Visiting Pete Day Two

On Memorial Day we drove into Portland to pick up a camera Pete had ordered.  We visited a park in the city of Portland and hiked in a light rain.  You have to learn to live with rain in Oregon and we already feel experienced.

Visiting Pete in Oregon Day One

I rented a vacation home online.  Everything looked great from the description and photos but you just don't know until you arrive.  Imagine how thrilled we were when we drove our rental car up a steep hill and found this at the top.
There were roses for Bob in the garden!

The garden was re-awakening my gardening instincts.

Spacious kitchen for cooking and family gatherings.

Entryway with purple door.  Nice hooks for hanging coats and rain jackets.

Bob and Pete relaxing in the living room.
Okay, this is NOT the Bluff House.  This is Pete's place.  As much as we love the guy, we wouldn't want to stay here.  That stool is one of 3 pieces of furniture.  The other two are another stool and a mattress on the floor.  Our guy Pete is a minimalist.

Nice little porch on the front of Pete's place.

Grisman's dish is the kitchen floor.

More Beautiful Snow

It is crowded at the feeders today as the birds gather for food during the falling snow.

Nils in Taiwan

Nils is in Taiwan for a 3 month work field assignment.  He works long hours six days a week. On his day off he managed to rent a bicycle for the day ($12) for a ride outside of the city of Taipei.  He rode a 5,000 ft elevation and was quite exhausted afterwards.  Emily will join him in early February for the second two months.

Thanksgiving 2012

We had a small group at Thanksgiving at Mom's.  My sister and her husband spent the holiday with their new little grandson (the first!).

Official holiday portrait.  Nils, Emily, Mom, Matt, Paula, Bob. Bob is wearing his Fair Isle Vest.

Mom always sets a beautiful table.

Emily gets the green beans on.
Everyone modeled some of my knitted shawls.  It wasn't my idea but I loved it.  Even guys look good in lace.

Knitting Pipeline Podcast is Alive and Well

Hello Friends,

Someone commented that she hoped I would get back to podcasting soon.  I am still podcasting!  I only took the month of September off for travel.  The podcast episodes are on iTunes or you can get them at www.knittingpipeline.com.

Sometimes a feed will stop working for no apparent reason.  If you suddenly stop getting updates from me without warning then check the group on Ravelry for announcements or look at iTunes.

The good news is that now you have a lot of episodes to catch up on!

The feed for the show is http://knittingpipeline.libsyn.com/rss

Walk with Me

This is one of the most beautiful falls we have had in recent memory and quite possibly the most spectacular since we have lived in this house by the woods.  None of the photos have been altered in any way.

Take a walk with me...

The sunroom, my favorite place to knit, is awash in yellows and golds.

The maple that likes to show off right outside the window.  The path below leads to our compost bin by the woodpile.
Approaching our house from the road is a thrill.

Some roses are still blooming and the zinnias are hanging in there.  We have not had a hard frost yet.

The hummingbird feeder is still out for the downey woodpeckers.

A tree that was struck by lightening and nearly split in half looks quite colorful.

Looking up through the maples.
