Ishbel Bind Off Video

I enjoyed doing the bind off on Ishbel and was so pleased with the result. It made a very flexible edge for the shawl. While it is very simple and Ysolda's instructions are excellent, I soon found a streamlined way of doing it. I'm sure you would discover a shortcut also, but this tip might save a little time. To find my YouTube video click on the link below.

I'm not sure whether this bind off has a name but I plan on using it again.

It really is a great little bind off, isn't it! I used it on another scarf after learning it for Ishbel. Ysolda is such a clever designer. The rhythm of doing it too, dipping the right needle up and down, such fun once you get the hang of it. That's a great little video of the process!

I'm glad you posted that! I was working on a new pattern a couple weeks ago that had a fancy bind-off, but after reading the directions 10 times, I still had no idea what I was supposed to do, so I gave up and just did a regular bind-off. I'm going to go back and see if it makes more sense now that I've seen this video (I think it was trying to tell me something similar, but it just wasn't computing!) Thanks, Knitting Guru!

Thanks for the great video. I was struggling with the bind off, and you saved my sanity.

Nicole hi!
If you mean the fancy bind-off of the purity shawl of Rowan, i could try to explain it. (English is not my language)
It is not so difficult as it seams!
Start by knitting 3 stitches together, turn your work (to the wrong side), put the stitch back to the needle and purl it, then put the stitch back to the main needle and purl it again. Do this for 5 times total. Put the stitch back to the main needle again, turn your work (to the right side) and begin to do the same think (knit 3tog etc. etc) till the end!!
It's a really beautiful cast off especially on a thin yarn.
I hope you enjoy
